With Man of Steel rebooting the Superman franchise this weekend it is interesting to note the budgets that the different Superman Movies have had over the years. The $225 million budget for Man of Steel is more than 4 times the budget of 1978’s original Superman with a budget of only $55 million. Even with inflation factored in Man of Steel costs nearly $30 million more to make than the original would have today ($196M). This opening weekend alone Man of Steel will bring in more millions than the original did total and factoring for inflation it will do 1/3 of the total domestic revenue that the original has made since 1978.
These numbers along with many others from all the Superman movies over the years are broken down, dissected and interpreted in Brendan Bettinger collider.com post Superman by the Numbers – From SUPERMAN to MAN OF STEEL.
