When fictitious author Robert Galbraith’s new book The Cuckoo’s Calling received rave reviews upon its release earlier this spring, Harry Potter’s J.K. Rowling was as thrilled as she had been in years. She had once again in her life received praise for simply her writing ability and not for being J.K. Rowling – The author of the Harry Potter series. Rowling released the crime novel under the pseudonym so that she could get the honest feedback that comes along with being a first time author which is a luxury that she will never be fortunate enough to have again. Similar to what private I, Cormoran Strike, who is “Cuckoo’s” leading character does in the book, The Sunday Times of the UK cracked the case of the pen name due to a number of different clues including the real author and the fake author having the same agent and editor. But mainly because everyone was so surprised how a completely unknown, rookie author with a made up history of the military and security could write such a great book! PMR is hoping to see “The Cuckoo’s Calling” up on the big screen sometime soon.
